Ammonium sulfate

CAS RN: 7783-20-2

Reactivities / Incompatibilities

Incompatible materials: Strong oxidizing agents, strong bases.
The mixture of potassium chlorate with ammonium sulfate decomposes with incandescence when heated.
When a little ammonium sulfate is added to fused potassium nitrite, a vigorous reaction occurs attended by flame.
A mixture of ammonium sulfate and ammonium nitrate can easily be exploded by potassium or sodium-potassium alloy.
Reaction with sodium hypochlorite gives the unstable explosive nitrogen trichloride. Incompatible with (/potassium/ + /ammonium nitrate/), /potassium nitrite/, (NaK + /ammonium nitrate/).
