Phencyclidine is a Schedule II controlled substance.
On February 25, 1978, PCP was transferred from Schedule III to Schedule II under the Controlled Substances Act.
Phencyclidine (PCP), formerly used as a preinduction anesthetic and as an animal tranquilizer, has no current licit medical indications, although it is still used illegally as a hallucinogen.
